Guidelines For The Smart User
I am going to be blunt. There are many things you can do on sc that makes you look incredibly unintelligent. I see alot of noobs doing these things, but I also see a lot of MP artists doing these things as well. I, Regrettably, have done these things. I have learned my lesson and am sharing my knowledge with you. Doing these things is the quickest way to have people write you off as brain damaged, Fair Warning.
1.Reposting Tags - No matter how tempting it may be, Don't do it! This is probably the most annoying thing that happens on spray can, mostly because it is so ridiculously common. Almost every artist has done it at least once, and almost all of them regret it. The only people who don't regret it are the people who are to stupid to realize how annoying it is. If oslik did it, I would unfollow. That's how annoying it is. If your tag doesn't get mp the first time you post it, it doesn't deserve mp. Either that or the news isn't working again..but that is another story.
2.Word Tags - I was considering making this a word tag, but I knew how annoying that would be. (that and I couldn't unlink and go on my word-tag filled account) This is the sin I am most guilty of. And as a chronic word-tag-poster, I warn you do NOT post that word tag! Spray Can is an app for art, not word tags.(no matter how pretty your handwriting is.)
3.Asking For Likes - Besides the fact you will get an exceeding amount of hate, This is one of the many ways you can cheat on spray can. In almost all cases the number of likes you get, are the number of likes you deserve. Asking for any more is taking likes you don't deserve. Wouldn't it be much better if you actually EARNED your likes?
4.Advertising - This goes along the same lines as asking for likes. Anytime you ask someone to follow you, look at your tags, or like your tags, you are cheating. Do you think MP artists got where they got by begging every user they could find to follow them? MP artists drew good drawings, People wanted to see more, so they followed them. That's how SC is supposed to work.
5.Copying - This should be obvious. Unless you put somewhere "for ~~" don't draw it. By copying someone else's work and not giving them credit you are essentially stealing likes, follows, and comments that belong to the original artist. This act is called "forgery" it is the most horrible acts that anyone could commit, lots of people are put in jail for, making forged money/bills, Paintins/sketches, anything really, lots of famous artists have made drawings based on others, but al of them admit to it being somone else's origional idea. Come up with your own ideas.
6.Hating - Duh. Unless you get your sick joys from making other people feel bad about each other, Don't do it. Even if someone is doing one of the things listed above, don't hate. It's a usless cell in your brain that says, "hey if you make this person feel like complete crap, maybe you'll feel better about yourself!" it doesn't, in the end it just leaves you and some really hurt person who probably lives about 100 miles away from you feeling utterly terrible.
7.Constructive Criticism - This shouldn't even be on this list but thanks to butthurt artists, you can't do it. Unless you want to get blocked. If you REALLY feel like you want to give someone constructive criticism, ask them for permission first. Some people accept that they're not the best artist, and with constructive critisism they become extremely brilliant! When tyypssara first joined, she was flattered, hated and given some constructive critisism, now nearly 2 years after, she is one of the most followed artists on spray can, and her drawing abilities have deffinately improved. Sure she gained some haters, but she gained loads more admirers and fans! With fame comes hate, but with hate just comes more hate, don't mix those two up.
8. Getting butthurt over hate - There is a block button for a reason. If the person continues to find ways to insult you even when you blocked them, they are a stalker and you need to talk to the admin. She is very nice. Her name is Franziska. There is an email ([email protected]), A facebook page (spray can, be sure to like it), an instagram (spraycan_rabbidrabbit), and three other admins on spray can that I know of, Mak, Welle, and Thedave, make sure to say hi to all of them, and you can report hackers to the less busy accounts (Mak and Thedave). Don't bug them if your just getting hated on, they'll tell you exactly this, "we will not ban them, but you can blo90ck them using the Block/Hide button"
9. A simple rule 12+ - There are many underage kids on spray can, which is not a good thing, if you are ten or under, you need to go up to your parents and say exactly this before you download the app "Mom, Dad, I want to get an app that is ages 12+, there are many adults and innapropriate drawings, there are smartmouthed lunatics who are very rude, but i promise to be at my best behavior and if anything bad happens i will come to you/delete the app. I did not actually plan on saying this, someone who is a user on the app has told me to say these things before asking for your concent.
